May 2020 Workday Canceled

Kerrville, TX - March 27, 2020. TLC's Lions, volunteers, youth groups and vendors have demonstrated time and again that they will not hesitate to answer a call for help, many of whom have kept their plans and commitment to attend TLC's May 2, workday as of this writing. As I have continued to monitor the progression and behavior of Covid-19, I believe that April and May are pivotal months to slowing the spread of this invisible foe and so will not ask the more than 600 volunteers and staff to place themselves and their communities in harm's way by traveling and cohabiting for the May workday.

Others factors that have weighed in on this decision, include but are not limited to:
  1. Larger groups having contractually agreed to room blocks at area properties, the 30 day window by which to cancel expires next week. At least one major, Kerrville hotel has closed for the entire month of April.
  2. TLC's BH #2 remains in disrepair in hopes of beginning construction mid-April to facilitate its desired completion date of mid-May. The facility is needed for the May weekend and is neither habitable nor safe for visitors to be near while designated a construction site.
Lions in Action - Workday 2019

I want to thank each and everyone of you for your continued involvement and support of Texas Lions Camp. Your notes of concern, compassion and belief in the mission of TLC mean more than words can express.

Stay safe, stay well and stay tuned...
