ExponentsA Little TLC for KISD
Kerrville, TX - August 10, 2023. Texas Lions Camp is proud to partner with Kerrville Independent School District on a number of events and programs each year, and this year is no exception. As the school year prepares to open to students for the Fall Semester, Principal Shelby Balser of Tivy High School brought her team to Texas Lions Camp this morning to kick off the year with a little TLC.
It was my privilege to welcome KISD and the Tivy faculty this morning and thank them personally for all that they do for so many others. All three of the Mabry kiddos went K-12 in KISD schools and as result of some phenomenal teachers and adults sewing into their lives, they have all three moved onto their Next-Levels. My address was short and to the point, and began by stating, "that I was in a room full of Exponents". What do exponents do but come alongside their primary and multiply what is there. If the primary is portrayed in a 12-point font, then the exponent will be quietly besides, in the background in a mere 2 pt font. Yet, from a position of authority the exponent greatly multiplies, when the world says, “that’s a 2” the exponent says, “Wrong, look again, I declare it a 4, an 8, a 16, 32, 64 more than what you saw”. Our kiddos need to know that people value them and that adults believe in them and their potential to achieve their Next-Level. Our schoolteachers and administrators are “exponents” that serve to shape, mold, invite, motivate, correct, and call out our children to engage and move to their next level. As school systems across our state gear up, don’t miss your opportunity to say thank you to them and do all in your power to support their many efforts. Respectfully yours,
